Newborn Package Information

 Studio Session..........$350+tax

At CoCo Inspirations Photography newborn sessions are near and dear to our heart. All newborn sessions take place in our home studio in Angier, NC. We offer two different packages to choose from to fit your photographic needs. All babies are photographed within the first 5-10 days of their birth, so it is very important to contact CoCo Inspirations Photography during your pregnancy. Contacting CoCo Inspirations Photography before you give birth will ensure your due date is on our calendar and your spot.  Newborns over 14 days are more aware and harder to fall into a deep sleep to allow for posing so if scheduled after 10 days I cannot ensure that we will be able to get the posed newborn shots. During the sessions parents are free to relax, take break, catch up on emails, or even take a nap. We also offer payment plans that will fit anyone's budget, so if you like, you can also pay for your session over the duration of your pregnancy.

Session includes:

  • Up to 3-4 hours in Studio
  • Baby must be between 5-10 days old
  • 20-30 edited and retouched images to choose from for ordering

Baby Milestone Package Information

The studio is a great way to photograph a baby's milestones as he/she grows into a toddler.  A studio is a more controlled setting and works perfectly for your little sitter, tummy timer, or beginning mover and shaker.   Our studio caters to children and we have a growing line of children's clothing and several different props to use during your session.

  • Tummy Timer {3.5-4.5 Months}: The first milestone that babies reach is developing the ability to hold their head up which is usually between 3.5-4.5 months. We encourage parents to bring in their baby around 4 months so that way they will probably be able to hold their up up pretty well. We utilize tummy time a lot in this session. We also photograph them on their backs as well. At three months they usually are still not quite ready to focus on the camera so we always recommend waiting until the baby is 4 months old. Babies at this age usually do not like to have their clothes changed multiple times so usually 1 or 2 outfit changes are all that they will tolerate. They usually will fall asleep towards the end so occasionally some photos of them sleeping can be taken.
  • Sitter {6.5-7 Months}: Babies at this point are generally camera ready & do well with focusing. At about 6-7 months babies begin to sit up on their own without any assistance. For this milestone having he ability to sit-up without any support is very important, so I would recommend not booking this session until the baby is sitting up very well unassisted. This is the next milestone in a baby's journey to toddlerhood. This milestone is usually captured at 7 months this way this new skill is well developed. This is usually the last stage before the baby is mobile so I always suggest a studio session because this will probably be the last time they will be a captive little audience. Outfits can be kept as simple as jeans, khakis, onsie, overalls with no shirt, simple dresses, or just a diaper cover. Props used are usually things they can hug, like a teddy bear, or hold, like blocks.
  • On the Move {12-18 Months}: This session is usually done around this child's first birthday and aims to capture their new found mobility, curiosity, and bubbly yet developing personality. Around this age they can be very active, crawling and exploring everything with their 5 senses, which makes their attention span for short. Keeping the baby stimulated and interested in what we are doing is usually a team effort & a work out but well worth it in the end. Cake smashes are great ways to end these sessions. Honestly I can't imagine a child turning one and not getting to smash the cake.  See below for information on cake smashes.

Newborn Session FAQs

Please contact us as soon as possible during your pregnancy to have your due date added to our calendar.  We cannot guarantee an appointment if not booked prior to baby's birth.  Once babe is born we can do our best to schedule an appointment.  Please keep in mind that newborns are photographed within the first 5-10 days of birth.  This is very important as older newborns do not fall asleep as easily as 5-10 day old babies.

Are parents involved in the session?

During the session parents will only be asked for assistance for feedings and diaper changes, I will be holding baby to soothe to sleep, wrapping baby, and posing.  Babies find it difficult to fall into a deep sleep when they sense mom is near (to newborns mom equals food); therefore, feel free to use this time to relax.

What happens if our newborn is awake or too fussy to make their photographic debut?

We like for newborns to fall asleep within the first 15-20 minutes of the session but we know that this is not always the case.  We do ask that parents be prepared to feed their baby upon arrival, a full baby is a happy sleepy baby.  If we can essentially get them into a milk coma “sort a speak” the session will probably go very smoothly and allow for the most productive use of our time.  However if this is not the case and the baby does not feel like sleeping but is calm enough to be swaddled or wrapped we will proceed as normal.  If the baby is fussy and cannot be soothed or we are unable to capture enough images to fill your gallery we do offer complimentary reshoots that must take place before the baby is 14 days old.  If it is impossible to schedule a reshoot all session fees with the exception of the non-refundable retainer will be refunded.  The deposit will be held as a retainer to be used for any session within 6 months of the newborn session date.  After six months the retainer is forfeited.

What is the best time to photograph newborns?

Newborns are best to photograph early morning time.  Newborn sessions are scheduled to start between 7:00am-9:00am.  Babies are usually happiest in the morning time after a good night of sleep.  We also recommend giving the newborn a bath before the session as a nice warm bath can help to soothe the baby and help to get them into a sleepy space.

Do we need to provide props or outfits for the session?

We provide all outfits and props for the session.  However, if you have a sentimental item or memorabilia that you would like included in the session please do not hesitate to bring with you.  If you do have an outfit you would like for the baby to wear, it will photograph best if it fits he/she perfectly.  Upon arrival to the studio you are more than welcome to look through our inventory of props to choose any item that you would definitely like your child photographed with.

How are newborns photographed?

Newborn are usually captured in his or her birthday suit.  So for family sessions you may want to bring a change of clothes just in case of an accident.  However, if photographing them nude is unwanted we are more than happy to keep the baby covered; we have wraps, rompers, diaper covers and several other options for you to choose from. Please let us know as soon as possible if this is the case.

Are digital files included with our session?

Yes, web-sized digital images are included with the session fee of the edited images and released after minimum order requirement is met.

Do we have to purchase $450 minus the $100 print credit to meet the $350 minimum order requirement?

No. You can purchase $350 and then the $100 print credit is applied for a balance of $250+tax remaining. The $100 print credit is a part of the $350 minimum order requirement. Clients usually invest between $800-$1,500.

Can we purchase single or multiple images in an upgraded size?

Yes, you can purchase the upgraded digital file of any image. Digital files are sold in an 8x12 digital image file size and as a full size high resolution file. An 8x10 print release, which allows printing up to size 8x10, is included for 8x12 digital images and an unrestricted print release, which allows printing up to any size, is included with high-resolution digital images.

What happens after my session?

The same day that we hold your session we will begin to process your images. Within 36 hours we will post a sneak peek to Facebook for you to view. Then about 4-6 weeks after your session your images will be complete and we can schedule the in-studio reveal/ordering session.

How do I schedule an appointment?

If we are the right fit for you please contact us by email at info@cocoinspirations.com or by phone 919.995.5515, so we can discuss your session. Email is always the best way to contact me. Once a date is agreed upon the online portrait photography contract and model release will be emailed to you to fill out and pay the non-refundable retainer fee. Each session requires a $150 non-refundable retainer fee to book your date. The remaining balance is due 14 days prior to the session date. Once a date and time is agreed upon, the non-refundable retainer fee, signed contract and model release is due within 36 hours.
